Potts Point Renovation

Our client’s apartment, on the second floor of the iconic 17 Wylde Street Apartments, was designed by renowned architect Aaron Bolot in 1948.

Bolot’s design is an efficient and amenable space with a clever layout. The apartment’s northern orientation and large ribbon windows means it receives ample natural light and good cross ventilation.

The apartment had not been updated since the 1980s. Our client was looking to modernise the interiors and increase storage space without sacrificing the apartment’s natural light and open living spaces.

We opted for a minimal colour palette; stripping away the carpet to reveal the original parquetry which we stained black to contrast the crisp white walls. The contrast delineates the straight and curved lines of Bolot’s design.

We integrated bespoke joinery into and enhanced the architecture. This was the key to balancing the three requirements of modernising, increasing storage and retaining space. The small space called for joinery that was seamless, practical and adaptable.
